Smart Cable

By combining the support capabilities of a standard 7-strand cable bolt with a miniature 6-wire extensometer, the SMART (Stretch Measurement to Assess Reinforcement Tension) Cable was born for directly monitoring loading in cable bolt arrays.

The stretch in the cable is determined via the integrated extensometer, allowing strain between anchor points to be calculated and a load profile to be developed. They are made to match the ground support being used on site – whether it be bulb or plain cable, plated or un-plated – they’ll be made to match, so they are installed and perform exactly the same way!.

These field-proven instruments allow our clients to optimise their ground support, creating cost-effective excavations at greater depth while ensuring the safety of equipment and personnel.
